As confirmed at Gamescom 2019, the Borderlands 3 endgame will feature a few key activities. One of the main endgame activities is the returning Circle of Slaughter mode. First seen in the original Borderlands, Circle of Slaughter is a wave-based mode where players take on hordes of enemies in exchange for various rewards.

Besides Circle of Slaughter, the Borderlands 3 endgame will also be composed of a new feature called Proving Grounds. Proving Grounds are special areas that players can find by deciphering alien messages and acquiring coordinates to their locations. Upon arrival, players will have a set of objectives to complete, and if they complete them all, they will have a chance at getting some of the game’s best loot. Gearbox said that there will be seven Proving Grounds for Borderlands 3 players to play through at launch.
And finally, the third piece to the Borderlands 3 endgame puzzle is the Guardian Rank. Similar to the Badass Rank from Borderlands 2, the Guardian Rank in Borderlands 3 lets players improve their character’s stats by tackling a huge list of challenges.
With Circle of Slaughter, Proving Grounds, and the Guardian Rank, it sounds like Borderlands 3 is giving fans of Gearbox’s looter-shooter franchise plenty to content to sink their teeth into. Gearbox has said before that Borderlands 3 is much bigger than Borderlands 2, and it definitely seems like it’s living up to that promise.
Luckily, Borderlands fans who have been waiting seven years for Borderlands 3 don’t have much longer to wait. Borderlands 3’s release is just weeks away, and those who want to get a headstart on their character can use the character skill tree tool right now.
Borderlands 3 launches on September 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
