The very design of the Borderlands 3 gun suggests something special about it, as not only is it a Jakobs sniper rifle, but it’s an elemental weapon. Many fans will know that this is a rare occurrence, which is amplified even further given that it will always drop at level 53, shoots fire rounds but will ricochet cryo bullets upon a critical, returning ammo, and the perfect god roll will take this even further. In short, there are plenty of reasons players will want this gun.

How to Get the Wedding Invitation in Borderlands 3
First off, Borderlands 3 players will only be able to unlock the Wedding Invitation while the Broken Hearts Day event is active. It’ll end on February 20th, meaning players are on a time, and there’s currently no other way to get it. This could change in the future, but that doesn’t seem too likely. Players will simply need to break 100 hearts—these fly around enemies in the game—and they will unlock the gun at level 53.
Despite the promises of the weapon already, there’s also anointments to consider; however, players can only get the weapon once during the Broken Hearts Day event. That means many will either get extremely lucky with a god roll or get extremely not so lucky with a useless roll. PS4 players can back up their cloud save and PC players can work around this somewhat, but generally speaking, there’s only getting 1 Wedding Invitation in Borderlands 3.
Why the Wedding Invitation is So Great in Borderlands 3
The Wedding Invitation makes a compelling argument for itself as to why it’s so great: the elemental Jakobs sniper rifle, the element changing ricochet, the possibility of god rolls, returning ammo, and general fun gunplay. But it doesn’t end there. Even without the proper Borderlands 3 anointment, its high damage output is insane, and this is perhaps most evident in Mayhem Mode 4. Players who have struggled there should just rock a Wedding Invitation, and it’ll be far easier.
It’ll also be far more interesting, as the fire-to-cryo effect is far more impressive than one might think in Borderlands 3. The fire damage itself will melt enemies, while the cryo ricochets will slow or even freeze enemies, giving players an element of control that is typically unfamiliar with damage output. This perhaps plays into its role in Mayhem Mode 4, as it can and will do everything. And as a level 53 weapon, it’s a must for those grinding to hit Borderlands 3’s new level cap.
Overall, if there’s any players who have been taking a break since the Mad Moxxi’s Heist DLC, they’ll want to log back in for this event. Gearbox may eventually nerf the rifle, but assuming it doesn’t severely, it’ll be a meta weapon in all Borderlands 3 DLC to come.
Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
