Specifically, the Borderlands 3 story DLC does not contain Anointed enemies, which are the bane of many players’ existence. For the uninitiated, BL3 Anointed enemies are very challenging foes that surpass the difficulty presented by even super badasses, and many fans find encountering them extremely frustrating. While Anointed enemies may not be on the level of Borderlands 3’s hardest bosses, though some fans would state otherwise, fighting them at random and in groups can be a less than pleasant experience.

In particular, Anointed Militants are the target of a great deal of ire from the Borderlands 3 playerbase, as these enemies can use shields to go fully immune. Some fans suggest that immune phases should only be employed with bosses, if at all, and getting downed by an Anointed Militant with immunity can be extremely irritating, as their shield makes it nearly impossible to get a Second Wind regardless of the enemy’s health.

These sentiments can be seen reflected in a popular new post on the official Borderlands 3 subreddit, titled “The best part about the Handsome Jackpot is the lack of Anointed enemies,” where players have come to voice their issues with these difficult opponents. The user that created this post, wikiweak, states that they “don’t want to go back” to base Borderlands 3 after living in an Anointed enemy-free world, and the number of upvotes that the thread has received suggests that many other fans feel similarly.

With respect to how Gearbox Software could change players’ opinions on Borderlands 3 Anointed enemies, removing Militant’s ability to go immune seems like the first step. Additionally, further increasing these challenging foes’ chances to drop BL3 Anointed gear and legendaries could go a long way in improving how fans think about these encounters. However, until something has been done to address Anointed enemies, players may prefer to continue hiding out in The Handsome Jackpot.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
