Borderlands 3 YouTuber and streamer KhrazeGaming took a look at the best shotguns to use in the endgame. Unsurprisingly ,he found some fan favorites to be among the best and others to be simply overrated when the numbers are punched. Let’s go down the list of gun manufacturers one at a time and pick the best ones to farm that next boss fight.

Subsidized The Butcher - Hyperion
The best Hyperion shotgun in the game, The Butcher has insane DPS. Not only is the damage above 1,600 but the abnormally high fire rate and magazine capacity make it one of the fastest firing weapons across weapon categories. And it’s a shotgun. The Butcher is an especially effective weapon to run with FL4K for boss encounters in particular, due to how quickly the ammo can run low.
Auditing Conference Call - Hyperion
With extremely high spread damage, the Conference Call legendary shotgun is one of the most effective damage dealing weapons in Borderlands 3. It is good for taking down multiple enemies clumped together pretty quickly, but the rate of fire is nowhere near as high as The Butcher, making it a weaker choice in terms of Hyperion weapons.
Speedloadn’ Hellwalker - Jakobs
Jakobs is a best-in-class gun manufacturer, and when it comes to legendary shotguns the Hellwalker comes out on top. This double barrel shotgun deals over 5,000 damage per shot. This close range spread gun pairs well with FL4K’s “Leave No Trace” skill, that adds a chance of a bullet being added to the magazine every time the player gets a crit.
One Pump Chump - Jakobs
This shotgun has some of the highest accuracy in the game, making it a great long range choice, but it does only have one shot per magazine. However, the gun has a great passive ability that gives it a 50% chance to not use ammo every time it’s fired. Combining this with “Leave No Trace” is a truly legendary loadout.
Iron-Willed Nimble Jack - Jakobs
Gained from beating the legendary hunt on Promethea, this gun is actually the most accurate gun in Borderlands 3, but there is a catch. Jumping improves this gun’s accuracy, so remain airborne and the Nimble Jack will tear it up.
Expert Trevonator - Maliwan
Fans agree that Maliwan is the worst manufacturer in the game, so the only worthwhile legendary shotgun from them is the Expert Trevonator. The shotgun can deal up to nine bullets worth of elemental damage at once, which makes it pretty powerful but not the absolute best on this list.
Premium Firesale Polybius - Tediore
This weapon deals higher damage than other shotguns with higher stats, because it shoots so many bullets both vertically and horizontally at the same time. When reloading, like other Tediore weapons, the Polybius can turn into a turret which increases its damage potential even more.
Burning Shredded Bongstick - Torgue
Torgue shotguns were recently nerfed, but the Bongstick still remains a top tier Epic weapon. This popular gun has a large capacity and shoots bullets the explode on impact. The option for sticky shots gives players a good deal of variety for how they want to use this gun to take down enemies across Pandora.
Stimulating Pent-Up Kielbasa - Torgue
This nerfed shotgun is also Epic tier and also has sticky shots. Despite the nerf, it remains an extremely high damage dealer, especially against bosses, with the sticky explosions giving it the extra edge it needs to take down bosses like Captain Traunt.
Cocky Flakker - Torgue
The Cocky Flakker is among the highest damage dealers in the game. The explosions trigger on a delay, a few milliseconds after impact, which make it great at medium range as well as regular shotgun range. The splash damage here lets it be super effective against bosses and large groups of enemies.
Borderlands 3 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
