Although Borderlands: Handsome Collection brought remasters of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to PS4 and Xbox One, the original Borderlands was not included. Fans of the series have asked for Borderlands to be brought to modern platforms for some time now, and they may be finally getting it. A recently leaked image displays trophy lists of both Devil May Cry 5 and Borderlands: GOTY on PS4, indicating that a Borderlands re-release may be coming to modern platforms.

Despite this leaked image having no “official” proof to back it up, it does line up with recent rumors regarding a re-release of Borderlands: GOTY Edition. Not only did the Korean Game Rating Board publish a rating for Borderlands: GOTY 8 months ago, but just over one month ago the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee rated Borderlands: Game of the Year on PS4 and Xbox One as well. If that is not enough evidence supporting a re-release of Borderlands, the studio allegedly behind it, Blind Squirrel Games, has experience working with remasters, as it worked with 2K to develop The Bioshock Collection.

The Redditor who posted the image, DeftonesBandPSN, suggests that this re-release will include all the DLC packs from the original game. Also, all of the available trophies are believed to be the exact ones from the previous version. Even though the image was captured on a PS4, the game’s ratings in Korea and Taiwan suggest it will also come to Xbox One. Additionally, the Korean-published Borderlands rating included a PC version as well.

Again, this leak has no official proof, but the evidence points to it being true and coming soon. It would be in Gearbox’s best interest to re-release Borderlands before Borderlands 3 releases, in order to build up hype around Borderlands 3 and introduce non-fans to the series. Nonetheless, regardless of when it would release, this is definitely good news for all fans of Borderlands.
