Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto’s son, takes up that role. While Naruto is still the ninja that fans grew up loving, at times, he makes stupid decisions that have great consequences in the sequel series.

7 When He Didn’t Acknowledge Boruto

One of the very first things that fans find out about during Naruto’s time as the Seventh Hokage is that his relationship with Boruto Uzumaki is quite strained. Despite Boruto being his son, he doesn’t spend any time with him, but even worse, he doesn’t even acknowledge him.

Having gone through something similar himself as a child, Naruto, of all people, should know how much words of encouragement mean to a child, especially if they’re your own. By never praising him or even acknowledging what Boruto achieved, Naruto set him up for going down the wrong path.

6 When He Didn’t Attend Hima’s Birthday

As the Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki has a ton of responsibilities, but at the same time, being there for the important days in his family, such as Himawari’s birthday, is important too.

Having neglected her just as much as Boruto, Naruto just had to spend some time with her when she was supposed to celebrate with a cake with all of her loved ones. Instead of going himself, Naruto sends a clone to the birthday and, what’s more, ruins the cake by dropping it, as well.

5 When He Didn’t Spend More Time With His Family

It is quite clear by now that a lot of Naruto Uzumaki’s wrongdoings arise from him being the Seventh Hokage of the village. While it is true that Naruto has the most important job in the village and something that he had strived all his life for, his family should’ve been just as important to him, if not more.

Naruto doesn’t just neglect Boruto and Himawari, but Hinata as well. Hinata, being an adult, does understand, however. That’s not to say that she doesn’t wish Naruto would spend more time with her and the kids, especially toward the very beginning of the series.

4 When He Didn’t Train Boruto

Naruto Uzumaki is the strongest ninja in the entire world. Having taught the likes of Konohamaru, he’s actually quite good at helping others get better at fighting. Surprisingly, Naruto rarely trains Boruto, if ever. The two do spar on a few occasions, but other than that, Naruto doesn’t oversee any of his training.

Being Boruto’s father, he certainly should be making more of an effort to help him grow stronger and at the same time, make him understand the true purpose of ninjutsu. Fans might get to see more of that in the future, however, for now, he hasn’t taken this initiative often.

3 When He Let Himself Get Rusty

At the beginning of the Boruto series, Naruto Uzumaki’s combat skills were shown to not be as good as they once were. Even Kurama, the Tailed Beast sealed inside him, told him how he was far from his best. This was seen during his fight against Shin Uchiha, where he struggled quite a bit despite being much stronger than him.

Later, however, Naruto did manage to get a grasp on his skills and ended up getting back to the level that fans expect to see him on. With time, he got involved in some of the most incredible fights in the story, such as against Momoshiki, Delta, Jigen, and even Isshiki Otsutsuki.

2 When He Tried To Provoke Jigen

Shortly after Kawaki was taken in by Naruto, Jigen began his hunt for the young boy and this led to the Hokage, along with Sasuke Uchiha, clashing with him. In a different dimension, the two went all out against Jigen but were barely able to scratch him in combat. Despite losing terribly and being at his mercy, Naruto decided to provoke him even further, which was quite a stupid thing to do.

Once again, Kurama had to warn him to not do anything stupid that would get him killed. Thankfully, Jigen was hitting his limit by this time and was more fixated on getting Kawaki back. Had Naruto continued his provocation, Jigen would most likely have killed him there.

1 When He Failed To Keep His Promise To Boruto

Following the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki, Naruto lost the power of Kurama, meaning he didn’t have what made him special anymore. With him being weak, it was a question as to how he would protect his son, Boruto, from the terrible fate that the Karma had thrust upon him.

Like any father, Naruto Uzumaki promised to always keep him safe and that, in time of need, he’d be able to summon a great power to defeat anyone who’d attempt to harm him. Yet, when Code and Kawaki turn on Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto failed to defend him and couldn’t keep his promise, which was quite shocking, to say the least.
